It has been a while since I have posted so I thought I should just give folks an update on things. We had a great vacation, but on the way back I got word that my Dad had had a stroke. Eventually we found out it was a major stroke in the brain stem. However, he has made great progress. He was working on making his left arm work before the physical therapist got there to encourage him to do just that. His spirit has been great! His speech has improved greatly, and before leaving the hospital he walked down the hall and back with assistance. This week he moved from the hospital to the rehab facility.
I have been encouraged just watching my Dad’s spirit and perseverance.

My mother had a stroke two years ago and has recovered well. It is a difficult road to travel as a child and I will be praying for all of you.
Ray, thanks for sharing about your dad's stroke and his response to that situation. It is a great encouragement. I will remember your dad in prayer.

Dr. Van Neste,
I recall when my grandfather had a stroke. It was definately a difficult time for all of us. Yet something that had a big impact on my young mind back then was that, although my grandfather's stroke left him unable to recognize us and unable to even remember how to use a fork to eat, he still remembered how to pray and prayed before every meal and before sleeping. That was amazing to me then and is amazing to me today.
I will remember your family and your father in prayer. I hope he shows much improvement.
In Christ,
Shep
^ The point of the above story being that we can see the work of God even in times such as this. That was what I meant in my comment.
Sorry to hear about this, Dr. van Neste. It's good to hear he's making progress. I prayed for you and your family today.
I'm praying for your father right now.
